OMG I am in love with Pantone’s colour of the year this year!!
Don’t get me wrong, last years was greenery and that was cool, but this Ultra Violet is way more dramatic! I will explain what that cover picture is in a minute but first…I’ve researched the colour and Ultra Violet means…. to communicate originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking in order to point us toward the future.
Historically, there has been a mystical or spiritual quality attached to Ultra Violet. The colour is often associated with mindfulness practices, which offer a higher ground to those seeking refuge from today’s over-stimulated world. Ultra Violet suggests mysteries, the intrigue of what lies ahead, and the desire to pursue a world beyond our own.
It’s defiantly ‘’a ‘pop’ colour which means you need to use it sparingly around the home against your neutral tones I have found some amazing examples of what I mean by this…
Velvet couches, with a splash of ultra violet in the art work above.
An ultra violet feature wall has also caught my eye…
This idea is great!!! They have added the pop of colour the in ‘inside’ of their cupboard, shelves, back wall, inside of the cupboard door.
Here we have a simple mat under the coffee table in the lounge….
An ultra violet head board, this I love love love
In the kitchen or entertaining areas keep everything the same simply paint your dining room chairs ultra violet – this looks stunning if you have a few black features around
Here’s another feature wall option pair with pops of gold
There are some wonderful furniture pieces out there and they are best shown off if you put them in your knocks and cranny areas
And I touched on art work before but I want to go back to it as look how great this piece is against the white and grey neutral tones
To finish people are using the colour of the year in other ways of course, hair dye, make up, clothes and this is my actual wrist which has an ultra violet (UV) tattoo imprinted on it which you can only see when you go under UV light which is…..never haha!
This is my wrist on my right hand….
